Maine Cat 38 Winner 2018 Best Boats award from Sail Magazine
Maine Cat's new MC 38 high performance cruising catamaran was awarded 2018 Best Boats for Cruising Multihull under 40' by a group of Sail Magazine judges following the recent Annapolis Sailboat Show. The judges made special note of our premier construction process utilizing an infrared oven to thermo-form the rigid sheets of Core-Cell PH foam prior to infusing with 100% vinylester resin. By thermo-forming our core material we are able to eliminate the excess resin found in typical infusion laminates using PVC or Balsa "saw-cut" cores. In addition to saving weight, our process yields a laminate with better mechanical properties and a tighter more accurate laminate fit free of any potential voids. Combining this lighter weight structure with slender hulls at the waterline (12 to 1 length to beam ratio) we are achieving performance of the carbon skinned "super yachts" at a fraction of their cost.
In the December issue of Sail Magazine Adam Cort's article noted "as the wind dropped to 9 knots, we hardened up to 35 degrees to the apparent wind, where the MC 38 walked along at 5.5 knots. Yes, 5.5 knots at 35 degrees."
Maine Cat is very proud of this award and encourages sailors looking to purchase a new cruising catamaran to come sail this amazing machine and experience what sailing the MC 38 is all about. She will make you smile. You will be amazed at how the MC 38 moves through the water and keeps the captain and crew comfortable in any kind of weather from our superbly sheltered helm and huge cockpit with excellent visibility for everyone aboard. Get out and go sailing …..bareboat in the Bahamas, bareboat Maine or crewed MC 38 Offshore Adventures.
